Sessokyo Onsen Kaikan

Today, I decided to do a round-trip eBike ride from Senzu Station to Ikawa Station, following the route of the Ikawa Line, a charming little red train that runs along the stunning Ōi River scenery.

While taking photos at the famous Oku-Ōi Kōjō Station viewpoint, I posted one on SNS. My colleague recommended a nearby hot spring facility, so I decided to stop by on my way back from Ikawa.

Tatsunoyu Onsen

During my stay in Higashikawa Town, I usually take the opportunity to enjoy the nearby hot springs of Asahidake, Tenninkyo, Shirokane, or Tokachidake. However, while chatting with a friend, I wondered if there might be a good onsen a little closer. That’s when they introduced me to Tatsunoyu Onsen, a brown-hued, warming hot spring in Higashi-Asahikawa. Naturally, I had to check it out.

Sumatakyo Onsen – Seikou-udoku village

I visited the Dream Suspension Bridge at Sumatakyo Gorge on a sunny autumn day. For the first time, I finally saw the emerald-green water I had been longing for and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery. After the walk, I warmed up at a private hot spring at Seikou Udoku Village. It was a truly relaxing experience, combining the beauty of autumn leaves with the comfort of a soothing onsen.

Teshiogawa Onsen

Although I visit Hokkaido a few times a year, I rarely make it up to the northern regions. This time, I decided to visit Bifuka and Otoineppu again after a long time. While looking for a place to relax and wash off my sweat, I discovered Teshio River Onsen. I realized I don’t have much experience with cold mineral springs in Hokkaido, but I found it to be quite a nice bath.

Sakai Onsen – Yumotokan

While driving through Minamichita Town, I hoped to find an onsen where I could relax while watching the sunset over Ise Bay – and that’s when I discovered Sakai Onsen Yumotokan. This place has a hidden-gem feel, with its brown, iron-rich spring water and views of the beautiful sunset and planes landing at Centrair Airport. The food here is said to be delicious as well, so it’s a place I’d love to stay at someday.

After an unexpectedly challenging summer hike up Mt. Arashima, I was exhausted and eager for a refreshing place to wash off the sweat and recharge. That’s when I found Kuzuryu Onsen Heisei-no-Yu nearby. This alkaline simple hot spring left me feeling wonderfully refreshed, and the free shaved ice was the perfect bonus to revive me!

Tottori Onsen – Kansuitei Kozeniya

After visiting Kaike Onsen near Yonago, I headed to Tottori Onsen Kansuitei Kozeniya, located right in front of Tottori station. Despite its central location, Tottori Onsen offers unique onsen to enjoy, along with charming traditional inns like Marumo, where I stayed last time, and the current Kozeniya. It’s a delightful place to explore!
