I visited Tottori after a while due to family matters. After visiting Kaike Onsen, I decided to try Tottori Onsen Kansuitei Kozeniya, located right by Tottori station. I’d previously stayed at Tottori Onsen Marumo, which was wonderful, but I was curious to try another spot.

It’s amazing to find a historical onsen inn with such beneficial hot springs right near Tottori Station! Kozeniya has its own spring source, known as “Kozeniya No.2,” with sodium sulfate-chloride waters at 50.1°C, containing 4,367 mg/kg of minerals. The bathwater has a characteristic brownish tint and feels richly therapeutic.

For guests staying overnight, Kozeniya offers two private onsen baths that can be used anytime during the stay – a thoughtful perk for extra relaxation.

Meals are served in the room, with the hostess greeting guests personally, and attendants making pleasant conversation. It has the charm of a traditional Japanese inn. Summer is the season for rock oysters in Tottori, though due to COVID-19, they’re no longer served raw. Instead, they offer grilled oysters with lemon or butter, which were still delicious and wonderfully plump.

Breakfast wasn’t served in the room but instead in a charming dining hall, “Kohoro” hall. The setting had a nostalgic atmosphere, making it feel like stepping back in time.
