I had heard stories from a Swedish friend who was working with me in Japan about climbing Mt.Fuji. It made me think I’d like to climb Mt.Fuji someday.

A journey to experience traditional crafts in Shizuoka
Although the main focus of this 2-day trip was the Curious Stone Museum (Kiseki Hakubutsukan) and visiting hot springs, I found myself with some extra time. So, I also decided to stop by the Hiroshige Museum of Art in Yui, where you can experience woodblock printing, and Takumi Shuku in Mariko, which offers various traditional craft workshops.

Many people are likely familiar with the uniquely shaped hard-shell design of BOBLBEE backpacks. I’ve been a loyal user of these bags for quite some time. When I learned that BOBLBEE’s headquarters was located in Malmö, Sweden – a city I visit on business trips – and that they even had a small store there, I decided to check it out.

On my flight back from a business trip to Sweden, I had heard that it was snowing in Japan. However, the plane landed without any issues. After collecting my luggage as usual and heading to catch the train home, I learned that the trains were apparently not running due to heavy snow.
Continue readingSommarscen Malmö
From June to August, for about two months, you can see these performances for free at various locations throughout the city of Malmö, Sweden. This is part of the event called Summer Scene Malmö. Since my friend’s wife was involved in organizing it, I used to visit often during this time when I was stationed there. So, when my business trips coincide with this period, I enjoy the events held in the evenings.

Many colleagues are on holiday or finish work early, so it can be a bit challenging to get work done, haha. With the nights staying bright and the relatively good safety, similar to Japan, it’s possible to go for a leisurely walk at night. This photo of Malmö Castle was taken around 10:00 PM.
Continue readingThoroughly enjoyed Beppu and Aso
It had been a while since we traveled to Kyushu, and this time we decided to head from Beppu to Aso. There were hot springs and delicious food to look forward to.

My child loves dinosaurs, and I once took them to see the skeletal models from the Fukui Dinosaur Museum when they were displayed in Marunouchi. Since then, my child has been saying, more and more often, that he wants to visit the Fukui Dinosaur Museum.
Continue readingBack in Kyoto after a long time
It had been a long time since I visited Kyoto, and once I got on the Shinkansen, I arrived so quickly that I started to think the ease of getting there might be the reason I hadn’t come in a while.
Continue readingStrolling through Hagi and Matsue
Since it was a bit too early to go straight to the hotel from Hagi-Iwami Airport, I decided to stop by Tsuwano. In front of the station, there was a D51 steam locomotive on display, and I remembered that steam trains are still running in this area. As I was thinking about it, my child became completely fascinated by the train and wouldn’t leave it for quite a long time…
