Hachijojima is a tropical island that feels nothing like the Tokyo I live in. Surprisingly, the island has seven hot springs. One of them is Sueyoshi Onsen, located on a high plateau at the southern foot of Mt. Mihara, on the island’s southern side.

While enjoying the peaceful landscape of Tuscany, with vineyards and beautiful rolling green hills, the first destination was San Gimignano. This UNESCO World Heritage town is famous for its numerous towers. It is said that there were once more than 70 towers, but now only 14 remain. Still, when we look at the town from a distance, the sight of the many towers and the houses standing in rows, covering the hills, creates a unique and captivating atmosphere.

Budapest is one of the places I have fond memories of, as we visited it on our honeymoon eight years ago. Back then, I remember staying on the Pest side, but this time, we chose a hotel on Buda’s Castle Hill. The view was truly spectacular, with a room overlooking the Danube River and the Parliament building on the opposite bank, beyond Fisherman’s Bastion.

I heard that there are nearly 50 baths in Budapest, and since I love hot springs, I decided to finally visit one, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath. The main reason I wanted to go was because I was curious about their famous “bath chess.”
