Kai-Komagatake Onsen – Ojira-no-yu

[Access] About 20 minutes by car from Sudama IC

On the way back from a hike (more of a climb than a hike) in the Ojiragawa valley, which was much harder than I expected, I stopped by the Ojira-no-yu attached to the campground. I didn’t have much expectation, but I was betrayed in a good way by the open-air bath with no roof and a pleasant feeling, and the reddish brown hot spring with surprisingly dense ingredients.

It was a beautiful day, and the open-air bath without a roof was just perfect. It has two bathtubs, one with colorless transparent hot spring and the other with reddish-brown hot spring. This reddish-brown hot spring has a total of 31600 mg / kg of ingredients, which is probably the more dense than I’ve ever heard of. With such characteristic hot spring, I would think that there would be many hot spring enthusiasts or people trying to cure their disease. However, it was just normal therefore I was able to relax. Although I came here to visit Ojiragawa valley this time, I would like to visit Belga, which includes a campground with this Ojira-no-yu in future.

Beautiful water flow and Senga-buchi

I visited the Takeu-Komagatake Shrine located just close to the parking lot of the Ojiragawa valley, and after walking for about 10 minutes, I came to see a beautiful emerald green pool in front of me. This is Senga-buchi. From here, it was a full-fledged mountain trail.

As you can see in the photo, there were places where I had to climb up a steep slope with a rope, and the path was indeed hard. But the flow of the river was really beautiful and I would never get tired of watching it.

In the Ojiragawa valley, where there’re many waterfalls, the trail to Fudo Falls at the far end was closed. So I stopped at Ryujin-daira where I could see Jinja-taki waterfall, then decided to go back. The water flowing through the valley was clear, but in places where the flow was slow, the water glowed emerald green, which was interesting. I would like to visit here again in the autumn when the leaves would change their color.
