When it comes to hot springs in Hakodate, Yunokawa Onsen is the place to be. This time, we stayed in a spacious maisonette suite at Bourou Noguchi Hakodate, covering an impressive 120m². While the atmosphere is more suited to couples or adults, our kid loved the unique two-story layout and the sheer size of the suite. With a private onsen in the room, it turned out to be perfect for relaxing as a family.

It was our first time staying in such a large room! The hotel’s concept of “living as if you’re at home” really stood out, though we don’t usually live in such luxurious spaces 🙂 We couldn’t help but feel excited. Having a private onsen in the suite was fantastic – being able to soak and then relax in the comfort of the room was a real treat.
The hotel also has a large panoramic public bath, which we tried as well, but honestly, we preferred staying cozy in our suite’s private onsen and enjoying the serene atmosphere.

For dinner, we enjoyed a beautifully crafted “washoku modern” kaiseki meal. Each dish was not only delicious but also a visual delight. It was the perfect way to wrap up our summer trip to Hokkaido.

The hotel has a stylish bar area complete with a library and even a billiards table in the back. Since it wasn’t crowded, we had a great time playing billiards together as a family. While we often stay at traditional Japanese ryokan, this modern onsen hotel offered a refreshing change with its luxurious and contemporary vibe.
If you’re looking for a blend of relaxation and elegance in Hakodate, Bourou Noguchi Hakodate is definitely worth a visit!
