[Webpage] Onsen-ya Jindai-no-yu
Jindai-no-yu in Naka-Izu is one of those wonderful hot springs and lodgings that I come across by chance without doing any particular research. I was planning to stop by a hot spring around Shuzenji on my way back from climbing Mt. Amagi today, but the name “Jindai-no-yu” that I saw suddenly attracted me, so I stopped by. The building was small but clean. The wooden walls and the sunlight filtering through the trees made a pleasant atomosphere in indoor bath. The outdoor bath is quite confortable with dazzling greenery of trees. As soon as I stepped into the bath, I felt the slippery texture and slightly thick hot spring.

The entrance and the changing room looked like this in the above picture, giving me a feeling of expectation that the onsen would be pleasant. Perhaps day-trip bathing was a bit expensive at 1,500 yen, but I was grateful that there didn’t seem to be many day-trippers because of that.

The mist sauna, which is not too warm, is designed for people to enjoy with lying down. It may not be enough for those who like hot saunas with strong stimulation, but it is so pleasant that I may fall asleep easily. The hot spring in the outdoor bath is also a little lukewarm (the source temperature is 47 degrees), so I can relax as long as I want. In addition, the source of the hot spring here is a sodium-sulfate with a PH of 9.2, which is quite alkaline, and after a while, my skin felt smooth.
Later on, I found out that Jindai-no-yu is based on the concept of “medical food with the same source of energy” and serves mainly vegetables and brown rice. From the reviews I’ve read, the food looks really good. I’d like to stay here sometime and relax.

Today’s purpose was to climb Mt. Amagi to enjoy beautiful autumn leaves. There is a 17-kilometer long traverse on Mt. Amagi, but today I followed the “Shakunage Course,” a circular course that takes me up to the two peaks of Mt. Amagi, Manjiro-dake and Manzaburo-dake. Mt. Fuji was also beautifully visible, which made this climb really pleasant. I would like to visit this course and the Jindai-no-yu again in the season of fresh greenery, and stay overnight as well.
