[Access] About 20 minutes by car from Suwa IC.
On my way to climb Mt. Tateshina, I spotted a small sign for “Yonezawa Onsen Shotsubo no Yu,” which piqued my interest. After my descent, I decided to stop by for a soak. I had fallen on rocky terrain and scraped my shin, so I was concerned that the “salt” in the water might sting.

The bathing area features a long main tub and a cool onsen water bath, along with a mist sauna that I didn’t try. I usually try the sauna, but due to my leg injury, I opted to enjoy the cool onsen bath instead, switching between it and the hot spring water, which was very relaxing.
The onsen water temperature is 24.2°C, and the source is a sodium bicarbonate, sulfate, and chloride cold mineral spring. The onsen water has a yellowish, transparent brown appearance and a total mineral content of 1827 mg/kg.
Fortunately, the timing was good, and there were hardly any people around, allowing me to enjoy the usually crowded cool onsen bath, which had a sign indicating a rotation every few minutes.
