We chose Gyokushoen Arai as the ryokan to gather and celebrate my grandmother’s special occasion. This historic ryokan has been used as a filming location and for Go tournaments. From the room, we could see the town of Toi and the ocean. With its abundant hot spring water, we enjoyed multiple baths, and the chloride spring water kept us wonderfully warm.

We stayed in Shikitei, a 6th-floor room with a stunning view of Suruga Bay. The room even had its own hot spring bath, allowing us to soak and relax without leaving the room – perfect for our occasion.

For meals, we savored fresh seafood from Izu, served in-room, allowing our family to enjoy the feast together at a relaxed pace. Although we don’t usually stay in such luxurious ryokan, it was a wonderful treat for a special occasion.
